Climate Control in Conservatories
Appeal recently commissioned an independent study by leading environmental consultancy Faber Maunsell to examine the thermal effect of various types of blinds in a conservatory throughout the year.
Evidence from the study shows:
• For a typical hot summer day in July, the addition of blinds to the conservatory can significantly reduce internal temperatures by up to 8°c.
• Alu-Pleat® and Solar R® blind fabrics, both exclusive to Appeal, offer the highest reduction in internal temperatures.
• Blinds covering the conservatory roof are 3 times more effective at reducing internal temperatures than blinds covering the side windows.
• The following graph illustrates the internal temperature of the conservatory

on a typical hot summer day without blinds compared to the temperature when Alu-Pleat® blinds are installed to both the roof and sides:
• Conservatory blinds not only help to keep the conservatory cool in the summer but also offer valuable insulation in the cold winter months and can reduce conservatory heating bills by up to 18%.
